Dennis Abbott is the managing principal and the President of FirstService Residential Carolinas. Dennis is responsible for executing the company’s strategic initiatives, and defines the organization's long-term and short-term objectives in North and South Carolina. Dennis has worked in the community association industry for over 30 years, founding Abbott Enterprises in 1989. Abbott Enterprises became a FirstService partner company in March 2011. On June 27, 2012 the company was rebranded as FirstService Residential Carolinas. It is one of fewer than 500 community management firms to have earned CAI’s most-esteemed designation as an Accredited Association Management Company. Since joining FirstService Residential, Dennis has quickly established himself as a national leader. His organization has set records in revenue growth, unit growth, client retention, client satisfaction scores, and profitability growth. Dennis served as the 2013 President of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). Among many CAI leadership positions, Dennis has, or currently serves, as chair of CAI’s Association of Professional Community Managers Board, President of CAI’s North Carolina chapter, CAI’s professional education faculty, vice chair of the Community Association Managers International Certification Board, NC Legislative Action Committee, and as vice chair of the CAI Designation Ethics Committee. He is a member of CAI’s prestigious President’s Club. He is also the recipient of numerous industry awards throughout his career. Dennis speaks regularly in the US and internationally regarding leadership and industry topics, trends, and best practices. Dennis attended Francis Marion University from 1977- 1981 where he studied Business Administration. He is among 5% of all community managers to hold the most- prestigious industry designation as a Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®). Dennis lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife of 32 years and their three boys. In his spare time Dennis enjoys golf, exercise, the beach, spending time with family, and Calvary Church ministries.
