Jim Totton is a highly successful veteran of the computing industry having served in engineering, technology, business, and executive roles. As Vice President and General Manager of the Platforms Business Unit at Red Hat, Jim has P&L and business leadership for the Red Hat core platforms including Red Hat Enterprise Linux business across Server, Client, Embedded, and Real-time products, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform. Previously as Microsoft’s GM of Marketing in the OEM Division he led business development and product management for Microsoft’s OEM partner channel worldwide. Prior to joining Microsoft he was Dell’s Vice President of Software where he led the Software Product Group delivering operating systems and applications across all hardware product lines, engineered the factory “software build-to-order” manufacturing IT systems, and built the Software Technology team for the Office of the CTO. Jim started his career with Digital Equipment Corporation holding many engineering, alliance, and technology leadership roles including serving as Vice President of Windows where he led engineering, product management, and marketing across x86 and Alpha hardware platforms.
