Advisory R&D Scientist with 30 years of specialty materials research & product development experience Achieved Bachelor’s Degrees in Chemistry, Criminalistics, & Criminal Justice from State University of New York College @ Buffalo in 1981. Fascinated by Forensic Science before it became a fad! Exciting internship at Erie County Forensics Laboratory in the midst of the “.22 Caliber Killer” case in Buffalo ’80-‘81. Joined American Cyanamid Co.’s Discovery Research Team in 1982. Worked 6 productive years w/ “Cytec”, rotating from heterogeneous catalysis & novel porous supports, to specialty activated carbon fiber materials & advanced aerospace composites - getting a taste of government sponsored research, project management, customer qualifications, & team management. Left the security of a steadily growing career in a large established corporation to join an entrepreneurial new start-up venture with a dynamic team of innovators, but an uncertain future. Joined the fledgling ATMI (then ATM) to develop new & enabling materials using the technology of chemical vapor deposition. Played a vital R&D role in ATMI’s growth from $400K revenue in 1988 to >$400MM and ~800 employees in 2012, and to sale for ~$1B in 2014. Proposed, won, & served as principal investigator, technical interface, report generator, & presenter on 22 government sponsored research programs totalling $5.2MM between ‘88 & ‘95. Over 25 years, R&D roles @ ATMI have been numerous and varied. From ’03-‘05 worked to develop SDS3®: the latest generation of ATMI’s sub-atmospheric gas storage & delivery product line. Since its introduction in 2005, SDS3® has contributed >$500MM to ATMI’s revenue line. * 2006 recipient of the American Chemical Society’s “Heroes of Chemistry” Award for work in sub-atmospheric storage, transport, & delivery of hazardous gases * Holder of 25+ US Patents (several pending) plus European & WO patents * Author/co-author of over 25 technical papers and publications
