PROTECTING CLIENTS' BRANDS I practice in the area of intellectual property law, with a focus on trademark and copyright law - both domestic and international. I am able to offer clients expertise based on trial experience in counseling them on enforcement, procurement and licensing in matters concerning trademarks, trade identity, Internet domain names, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition. WIDE RANGE OF INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE I have represented some notable companies in a wide array of industries, including retail, food and beverage, e-commerce, computer hardware and software, networking, architectural and engineering-design services, personal-care products, sporting goods, clothing, toys and games, hotels and restaurants. SERVE COMPANIES AT ALL STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT I have served as intellectual property counsel to companies at various stages of development, from inception to maturity. I regularly assist clients in the management and enforcement of domestic and international trademark portfolios from selection of a mark to protection through registration, oppositions and cancellations before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and anti-counterfeiting measures working with U.S. Customs and associate counsel in other countries. MEDIATION SERVICES I presently serve on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and have been trained as a mediator by INTA. I am listed on the International Trademark Association Panel of Neutrals. BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE Prior to practicing trademark law, I served as a Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco and was fortunate to try a significant number of cases. I was an instructor at Hastings College of the Law and taught intellectual property at the University of Paris X School of law and served as faculty chair for many years for the Practicing Law Institute’s Global Trademark and Copyright program.
