Driving Precision Medicine: Optimizing the translation of basic discoveries into practical clinical applications requires a highly integrated environment where information can be transparently shared across the biomedical enterprise. My vision is to expand on this space of “Translational Informatics” in order to optimize exciting biomedical discoveries and move them more effectively and efficiently toward the ultimate goal of translating discovery into improved clinical outcomes and care delivery. By combining modern systems capabilities, information science, and clinical care engineering, there is an unprecedented opportunity to have an impact on care delivery and research innovation. A primary directive is to deliver a suite of services to support translational, clinical, and biomedical research, as well as clinical care improvement. I enjoy focusing on the capture, storage, and dissemination of clinical and research data that can easily be merged, integrated, or aggregated with other data sets, as well as the development of a unified technology platform leveraging cutting-edge advances in computing. These goals include delivery of a service for the management of all phases of clinical trials, secure storage of large scale genomic, expression, and other research “Big Data”, as well as clinical, pathology, and imaging data, with the opportunity to link clinical and research data. Through the application of informatics and re-engineering, I enjoy partnering with Industry, Pharma, the NIH and NCI (National Cancer Institute) and especially other NCI-designated Cancer Centers, in addition to newly established technology companies developing cutting edge core of tools to facilitate the process of translational research by further enhancing how we connect researchers, doctors and patients by translating their needs into intuitive solutions and enabling system interoperability via the use of data standards, common terminologies and service oriented architecture.Specialties: Clinical Research & Medical Informatics, Computational Biology, Data Representation Methods, Bioinformatics
