As the nation's health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health, safety, and security threats.

Nisha has served CDC since 2007 at a myriad of offices and centers including the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, the Emergency Operations Center’s Joint Information Center, the Office for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support, the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention, and, most recently, the Office of Laboratory Science and Safety. She has also served as the Communications Lead for the HHS COVID-19 Testing and Diagnostic Working Group (TDWG) in 2021 and in 2020, served as the Communications Lead for CDC’s COVID-19 Laboratory and Testing Taskforce, and in the same position for the COVID-19 International Reagent Resource during the largest pandemic outbreak. In addition, Nisha was a member of CDC’s COVID-19 Risk Communication Tiger Team for the agency during the response. Nisha served in an Acting role as Health Communications Officer in CDC’s Office of the Chief Operating Officer which afforded her the opportunity to learn more and support the business services offices that help CDC operate. Nisha brings with her expertise in strategic communications and policy planning, audience research, messaging, product development and marketing. She also has a strong background in public relations and media/risk communications. Her career highlights prior to joining CDC includes scientific grants management and facilitator of nationally funded behavioral-focused research projects and awareness campaigns for a local broadly-based community in Miami, Florida—helping to reduce the problems of drug abuse, addiction, injury and violence, as well as, HIV/AIDS. Nisha received her MPH from Florida International University and the University of Miami and her BA in Psychology from St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, CT.
