Public Information Officer

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is the sixth largest public school system in the United States, the second largest in the state of Florida and the largest fully accredited K-12 and adult school district in the nation. BCPS has over 258,000 students and approximately 150,000 adult students in 234 schools and education centers and 76 charter schools.

I served as the Public Information Officer responsible for all Aviation Department external communications from June of 2006 until October of 2020. I enjoy working closely with local reporters as well as with the public. I was a reporter for almost 13 years which at the time was very rewarding and exciting. I enjoyed the transition to the "other side" after 9-11, working with local government on their communications efforts. Then came 2004 and the rapid succession of hurricanes in South Florida. It was a challenging period working for the city of West Palm Beach and juggling the public communications while managing the city's first and only cable television station. We transitioned from channel 79 to channel 18 and negotiated a one million dollar grant from Adelphia (now Comcast) for improved broadcasting equipment. Today I am the Assistant Director of Communications for Broward County in the office of Public Communications. I started in October and am enjoying the new role and responsibilities. Specialties: Broadcast journalism, media relations, television and video production and building relationships.
