Graduated from Delft University of Technology, I joined Boskalis in 2000. During the first years of my career I worked alternately on several major infrastructure projects in the Netherlands and at Boskalis Head office. I further developed my expertise as a geotechnical engineer, especially in the field of deformation and stability analysis of embankments on soft soils; soil investigations, (3D) modeling and determination of soil parameters. In 2005, I was leading the geotechnical design team for the Hollandsch Diep disposal basin. As such, I was responsible for the development and implementation of a static liquefaction model for the analysis of slope stability in loose sand deposits. In 2006, I moved to Qatar to became head of the geotechnical department at the Ras Laffan Port Expansion project. On this mega dredging, reclamation and breakwater project I was responsible for the design and execution of large scale ground improvement works and reclamation quality control testing. Consequently, I moved to Abu Dhabi to continue my work as a senior geotechnical engineer on the Khalifa Port project. Here, I played a key role in the successful implementation of a multidisciplinary approach towards (geotechnical) quality control and acceptance of the works. After returning to the Netherlands in 2010, I became responsible for the coordination of design and engineering aspects of various multidisciplinary dredging and reclamation tenders. A year later I joined the management team of Hydronamic, Boskalis’ in-house engineering consultant with specific focus on geotechnical engineering, coastal engineering and marine environment.
