Named CFO of Border States Electric in December 2011. He is a member of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and the Officers' Council of Border States Electric (BSE) and leads the finance and risk management functions of Border States Electric (the Company).Before working at Border States, Mr. Welsand was an Audit Partner with Grant Thornton, LLP, a national public accounting firm and international accounting organization. He has experience working with public and private companies in the technology, manufacturing, distribution and construction industries. He worked in London, England from 2005 to 2007, gaining experience with International Financial Reporting Standards and has significant experience with mergers and acquisitions. He is a member of both the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Welsand is active in industry associations and serves on the Board of Directors of ESCA (the Employee-owned S-Corporations of America) and is also involved with several other not-for-profit organizations’ boards.
