Formerly Executive Director (Crown Servant) on the Board of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, based London and Manchester During consulting in 2013 I worked for UK Department for Business at Innovate UK, I led a Communications Capability Review for the Equalities and Human Rights Commission and led the internal communications and change management for a global agribusiness acquisition. I was Director of External Affairs at the Engineering Employers' Federation and formerly a senior civil servant and Communications Director of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). I am a senior communications, marketing and public affairs practitioner, with previous posts at AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson (DePuy Orthopaedics), Ciba-Geigy, Scottish Courage (brewing, hotels and pub retail), Littlewoods (fashion) and, I was Head of Press and Public Relations at Manchester Airports Group from 1996 – 2002, leading the PR and political lobbying for its second runway. I'm an English Literature graduate from Leeds University and I have a Masters in Public Relations from Stirling University, Scotland, for which I won a bursary from "Cosmopolitan". In 2012, I was President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and I was cited by the magazine “PR Week” as amongst the 50 most influential PR practitioners of the last 20 years. In 2007, I was runner up in the “Corporate Communications Magazine” communications professional of the year. The campaign work I led at HSE won a European Communications Directors' Association Award in 2009 (best healthcare campaign), a Direct Marketing Gold Award and the "PR Week" best public sector and best over all campaign in 2010 (agricultural safety) I am a Chartered Practitioner, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and Fellow of the Institute of Directors. I hold the IoD Diploma.
