Alexis Flores is the Economic Development Specialist for the City of Lockhart. Through the Lockhart Economic Development Corporation, Alexis assists companies in their relocation or expansion of their company to the centrally and conveniently located city of Lockhart. In collaboration with Opportunity Austin and the Greater San Marcos Partnership, Alexis works with economic developers in the region, local universities, workforce development organizations, elected officials, financial institutions, office of the governor, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, transportation and mobility organizations, commercial brokers and developers, event venues, and other resources in the region to understand how to make meaningful connections in the community. Through cultivating these relationships, she is able, to provide companies with the resources they need to ensure their continued success through expansion and growth. Born and raised in Austin, Alexis attended the University of Texas and majored in Economics with a minor in Business. She also spent time overseas in Rome, Italy, where she studied International Economics. Prior to working with the City of Lockhart, Alexis worked as the Manager of Corporate Expansion for Austin Chamber/Opportunity Austin. Through the Austin Chamber’s existing business outreach program, known as Connect First, Alexis was responsible for supporting new job growth generated from existing businesses by working with local companies across industry sectors to fully understand and address their corporate needs. During her time at the Chamber, Alexis and her team were ranked as one of the 2019 Top U.S. Economic Development Groups; receiving the Mac Award for Excellence in Economic Development by Site Selection Magazine. Before working at the Chamber, Alexis worked at NRG Energy and Green Mountain Energy, where she held roles in finance, customer services and project management. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, going to music festivals and swimming in the many Texas watering holes.
