Ross D. Silverman, JD, MPH, is Professor of Health Policy and Management at Indiana University's Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, and Professor of Public Health and Law at Robert H. McKinney School of Law, both in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also is Associate Editor on Legal Epidemiology for the journal Public Health Reports. A leader in the field of public health law and policy, his research, teaching and consulting includes legal, ethical and policy issues in public health and health care; professional education, admissions and curriculum development; emergency preparedness; negotiation and dispute resolution; and patient safety. His research has appeared in leading medical, ethics and legal journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Science, the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics, the Annals of Surgery, the Hastings Center Report, and the Kennedy Institute on Ethics Journal. He served five years as chair of the SIUSOM Admissions Committee, codirected its MD-JD dual degree program, and was a member of the Memorial Medical Center (Springfield, IL) Human Values & Ethics Committee.
