I am a senior public relations major at the University of North Texas with plans of graduating December 2014. While a student here at the Mayborn School of Journalism I have slowly become more active in the organizations on campus. Currently I am an ambassador for the journalism school, this gives me an opportunity to not only network within the department, but also recruit new students for the program. Recently, I was promoted to president of SWOOP for the summer term. A student-managed PR and advertising agency here at Mayborn, we work for real clients. Starting out as a PR consultant in August 2013 the agency has shown me the importance of social media not only for personal professional development, but it is essential to build a relationship between organization and client. My newly found passion for social media led to my job title changing from PR consultant to head social media consultant. This summer will be the beginning of my term as president of SWOOP. I have worked as a team member for Chick-Fil-A giving me experience in a customer service environment. For over two years I have been working for Lewisville ISD as a tutor for their AVID program. Advising students and assisting them in their search finding the right college for them and leading small group sessions is my role.
