I lead the Building Dynamics Group at Ameresco Inc developing online sensing and analytics solutions for energy management and opportunity identification in commercial and industrial buildings. Our main solution, Building Dynamics, connects to sensors, meters, utility systems and building automation systems to collect and analyze commodity consumption information. Building Dynamics is currently applied in industrial facility energy optimization, Building Automation System Fault Detection Diagnostics and Optimization as well as Measurement & Verification of energy savings.Before joining Ameresco as part of an acquisition I was the Barton L. Weller Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Yale University. My research group, ENALAB (Embedded Networks and Applications Lab) conducted research in wireless sensing networks, electrical load disaggregation and human behavior analysis using sensors. My research was focused on wireless sensor node localization, low-power operation and the applications of wireless sensing systems to energy efficiency, security and healthcare. I have also worked with Identity Management (IdM) Systems and studied their interactions with the physical world. I am particularly interested in the interaction of Cyber and Physical Systems, Internet of Things (IoT) applications and the underlying mechanisms for making such interaction safe and secure.In 2011 I founded Seldera LLC to develop 'Intelligent Sensing Solutions for a Sustainable Future'. Seldera developed a scalable sensing system offered under SaaS model to help organizations to effectively manage their energy consumption. Seldera's main product is Building Dynamics. Seldera is now part of Ameresco Inc. The same framework also supports an Active RFID multi-purpose network and a configurable information processing engine that can be customized to meet the particular application needs.
