Thanks for visiting my page. With 2017 rolling forward quickly, the changing energy industry continues to impact my career. Utilities are being pulled into a more competitive market. Clinging to what brought success in the past will not mean future gains. Being nimble, flexible and fast-acting are now necessary traits for energy businesses.My daily work responsibilities are evolving as the company I work for moves into a new era. It’s a time where you no longer compare yourself to other utilities. Now, you are wise to see how you measure up to all businesses that provide goods and services to a customer base that wants more and more options.On personal level, I know that my success will rise and fall with the choices made by my organization. More importantly, I realize that I have to further refine my change management skills to contribute to my company’s success. I have to be more than just a communicator, marketer and whatever other skills are needed to accomplish my daily tasks. I know I have to be an even better anticipator. I have always tried to think a step ahead but now I need to think several steps ahead. I need to ask more and more how my actions could impact the actions of others. The potential reactions my actions could bring, as well as how they fit with the larger strategy of my organization. Thinking ahead must become more second nature but that does present challenges for me and most of us, given that we are time-challenged. We often find ourselves running from task to task just to get things done. But, just getting things done isn’t good enough in the work world we now live in. In many ways, there is no 'being done' anymore anyway. Instead, it’s about continually taking steps, working your best to know what steps you think are coming next and being adaptable to whatever happens. Thanks for stopping!
