I have been a volunteer as a counselor and a mentor to abused foster kids for 5+ years. It has awarded me the opportunity to positively impact their lives, and has pushed me to be an effective role model for them. My experience as a football coach at such a young age, (15 years old), helped me mature at a much quicker rate than my peers and, in a way, allowed me to see and analyze issues with a more calculated perspective. I have also been afforded the opportunity to volunteer at Austin Road Middle School, in Stockbridge, Georgia. I have worked mostly as an assistant to various teachers, but I have also helped lead discussions and topics regarding history, (my field of study). But, most importantly, I have grown in my walk with God, which has helped me become the man I am today. I desire to work in either a primary or secondary school as a social studies/history teacher. Because of my experience writing a plethora of undergraduate and graduate papers and engaging in tough discussions with professors and colleagues, I possess many of the skills any educator would need to lead a classroom.
