Let me summarize why I love what I do: I recently received an email from a former candidate that caused me to stop in my tracks. I placed this woman in a position well over 10 years ago, and out of the blue she emailed me to thank me for altering the course of her life. Yes. You read that right- “alter the course of her life”. Profound. Encouraging. AMAZING! When I finally pulled my jaw off of the floor, I reflected on what little I felt I had contributed. My part as the recruiter was to educate her about the company for whom I was recruiting and to encourage her to speak with my client. It was she who possessed the stellar background, the credentials and pedigree on her own. But what she told me in her note is that I had empowered her by stoking her confidence to take the risk of interviewing in an area of healthcare where she had no prior experience. She went for that interview (I guess I can take some credit there), and after a few rounds of interviews she got the job. She was quickly promoted and now leads a national team.
