Established in 1996 Birrung Gallery (formerly Walkabout Art Gallery) is committed to supporting emerging and established Indigenous artists from communities across Australia. We represent over 200 artists from as far north as the Tiwi Islands, Central and Western Desert areas, the APY lands of South Australia and our local New South Wales Koori community. Profits from the sale of artwork go to support many Indigenous artists who live in poverty and World Vision Australia's Domestic Programs.
I come from a biomedical science background and have worked and studied in the fields of international health, women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and family planning since 2008. After completing my Master of International Heath in 2012, I commenced my PhD in International Health as an Australian Postgraduate Award recipient with Curtin University. My PhD research focuses on women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights in Nepal. I have experience in SRH project development, implementation and evaluation, and specialise in qualitative research within vulnerable populations. My fieldwork has included extensive time in Nepal and within refugee and migrant communities in Australia. While completing my PhD, I also work as a Research Associate and Sessional Academic with Curtin University. I am passionate about women's and girls' SRHR in the developing country, migrant and refugee and humanitarian crisis and post-crisis contexts; family planning and contraception; abortion rights and access; health disparities; and ethics in research.
