Wichita State University, a public state university in the Kansas Board of Regents system, is a growing leader in innovation, creativity and collaborative learning. Its 15,000 students study business, education, engineering, fine arts, health professions, and liberal arts and sciences at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Michael S. McLeod started the doctoral program at Texas Tech University in August 2012 after running multimillion dollar departments at Coca-Cola and Land O’ Lakes, as well as consulting a number entrepreneurial businesses and venture capitalist groups. He holds a B.A. in accounting from Weber State University and an M.B.A. from California State University, Fresno, where he was a recipient of the prestigious M.B.A. Award of Excellence and Dean’s Medal Runner-Up, among other recognitions and awards. His primary area of research focuses on the intersection of strategic management and entrepreneurship. Generally, he is interested in various organizational and environmental factors that influence firm performance as well as the role that firm-level entrepreneurship phenomena plays in performance. Specifically, he examines how various strategic orientations and organizational narratives affect various organizational outcomes of both established and new ventures. He has published multiple research articles and continues to work on several others towards publication. He has presented research both within the United States and internationally on IPOs, venture capitalists, underwriters, and ethics. His research is often inspired from his work and life experiences, including working at some of the largest corporations in the world, consulting several entrepreneurial businesses and venture capitalists, as well as serving and living in a developing country, the Dominican Republic, for two years.
