Based in San Francisco, Michael is an entrepreneurial real estate professional, who over a 25 year career has founded and worked in a diverse collection of firms in brokerage, development, investment banking and direct investment. Today he serves as CEO + Co-founder of Capstak, a market network for the commercial real estate industry. Michael is most recently the Founder and CEO of Schnabel Ventures. Schnabel Ventures was founded to partner with exceptional real estate entrepreneurs that are uniquely qualified to capitalize on dynamic market opportunities. Through Schnabel Ventures he was the Co-Founder of Blackfire Real Estate Investors and Co-Founder of Development Arts. Blackfire Real Estate Investors is a direct investor in commercial real estate properties. Blackfire seeks to unlock intrinsic property values by developing and executing thoughtful business plans to reposition existing properties. Development Arts is a collaborative partnership with Equiterra Properties, focusing on ground up commercial real estate development.Prior to founding Schnabel Ventures, Michael was the Senior Managing Director and owner of the CBRE Reno/Lake Tahoe office. Michael built the office into the premier commercial real estate firm in the market before selling the firm back to CBRE in 2007.Early in his career, Michael garnered valuable experience as an Associate at the Wall Street firm of Kidder, Peabody & Co. in San Francisco and as an Analyst at Merrill, Lynch & Co. in Washington, DC. Michael is also currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Schnabel Foundation Company, a national design-build construction company headquartered in Washington, DC.As a passionate entrepreneurial advocate, Michael is an active Angel Investor, with investments across multiple industries.Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Business Administration from the New York University Stern School of Business.
