In December 2008, I purchased a Town Planner franchise and now own the Northwest Indiana territory. I started the company by creating and distributing over 70,000 large, glossy, Northwest Indiana calendars filled with beautiful local photography. Residents really appreciate receiving the calendars because they include local events & school schedules from their area and there is plenty of space to write in personal appointments and birthdays. Plus, there are nearly 100 coupons for them use at local businesses. Our advertisers love being part of the calendar because residents hang it in their home 365 days a year and refer to it daily, helping businesses to be seen every day! Plus, they appreciate the fact that they are part of something so community-oriented and liked by residents. In 2013, we developed a new website and Facebook page with the goal of learning more about our community and what residents were looking for. Each time I post something on Facebook, it’s my way of gauging how much interest our followers will have about events in the area. Our NWI Facebook page has been an excellent window into the lives of Northwest Indiana residents. All that we provide on our website, is a reflection of that. Currently, we get over 2 MILLION views per year on our website, making it an incredible place for our advertisers to promote their business. As a mom of 5 who was constantly looking for fun things to do in the area, I knew my business would be the solution for so many moms and other local residents in my community that were looking for the same thing. It’s my outlet to laugh, have fun, meet new people and to be part of something bigger than myself.
