Al serves as the head of thredUP’s FP&A team where he is responsible for feeding a data driven culture along its four main axes: finance, operations, marketing and merchandising. thredUP is a pioneer bringing the $30 billion dollar apparel industry online and inspiring a new generation of consumers to think second hand first. Before thredUP, Al was a founder and President of Integrated Flow Systems (IFS) which after a successful pivot became a leader in high purity chemical delivery systems to semiconductor OEMs. His focus was operational and financial excellence through a transparent, data driven organization. Shareholders know Al as leader who maximizes value by aggressively driving the bottom line and by using a business unit approach to leverage the talents of an executive team. Colleagues know him as a manager adept at integrating data and disciplines among the disparate organizations in a company. Employees know him as someone strives to make their jobs easier by making them more efficient and as someone who prefers teaching them to fish instead of giving them a fish. Al has a BS in Chemistry from The University of Michigan where he discovered he can learn just about anything. He spent 5 years as a naval officer aboard the submarine USS Parche, an experience that both informs and affects him to this day.
