Chief tasks handled: Strategic Planning -Formulating short term / long term strategic plans to enhance materials management operations. -Planning & implementing measures in operating procedures to optimize resource / capacity utilization -Identifying scope for developing new systems (IT enabled), synergizing & implementing the same with the pre existing systems. -Preparing MIS/ reports on purchases done for evaluating the costs & calculating the profit ratio and providing pricing support. Materials Management / Logistics -Budgeting and planning the funds for procurement and sourcing of materials ensuring optimum utilization of materials & maximum cost savings. -Accountable for meeting customer orders by designing, implementing/monitoring effective procurement schedules along with finalizing the specifications. -Ensuring seamless logistics functions to ensure optimum stock levels at warehouses/ stores in accordance with the pre-planned targets. Vendor Management -Identifying and developing a dedicated and alternate vendor source for, achieving cost effective purchases of components of different technology & raw material along with reduction in delivery time. -Rendering technical assistance to suppliers in resolving problems related to development & quality. -Assessment of vendor performance based on various criteria’s such as percentage of rejections, quality improvement rate, timely delivery, credit terms etc. -Follow-up with vendors for timely deliveries and quality checks as well as ensuring timely payments. Value Engineering / Value Addition (VA/VE) -Analyzing existing processes / procedures and conducting critical analysis for finding out shortcomings and suggesting improvements measures. -Effectuating cost saving initiatives by introducing advance product, process technology, and eliminate / substitute process use of alternate material for optimizing drawing specification.
