Daniel started his technical career as a helpdesk engineer working for an Insurance broker. Starting out as the only on-site engineer, Daniel had to grow quickly and learn the industry to develop. Staying with the Insurance broker for several years, he developed his skills in various Microsoft products, and this is where he took his first attempt at Microsoft exams to further develop his career. During his time at the Broker is where he developed his passion for Security and developed his skills outside of work. Continuing his own studies, he decided on a career move to the IPO, where he further developed his web analyst duties and his understanding how the web infrastructure operates. After several years, the decision was made to move into the security field and follow his passion. Daniel carried on studying outside of work and successfully obtained many security certifications which include the Crest Registered Penetration Tester (CRT) as well as the OSCP, CEH and many of the eLearnSecurity certifications. Being provided the opportunity to put his hobby into practical use came when a big government penetration test was offered. Pointing out all the identified vulnerabilities helped to improve the developers of the software and he eventually moved into management to provide the necessary knowledge and guidance to others. He now oversees both government and private security operations which include BBC, DVLA, Barclays and many more. Daniel now provides guidance and advocacy regarding prioritisation of IT Cyber Security best practices across enterprise wide systems\services. He will identify and analyse security risks and provide improvement\remediation plans while balancing business needs.
