I help start and scale businesses ... and get them to the right exit. At Shasta Ventures I serve on our portfolio companies boards and help scale their GTM efforts in an agile way. I also practice on my own, starting with Vineify, a platform for wine curation. I'm working with other entrepreneurs on a variety of new ideas, including better frameworks for starting and scaling companies. And I mentor and advise many entrepreneurs, leaders and import projects such as the Linux Foundation. I'm busy! Co-founded and served as CEO of Spiceworks, a pioneer in B2B marketplaces, growing it to over $70M/yr and raising $111M in capital. Learned a ton about building a global community, beloved brand, and a culture that was consistently recognized in "Austin's best workplaces". Acquired in 2019 by J2 Global (JCOM) to merge with their ZiffDavis B2B business and create Spiceworks Ziff Davis. Previously VP at Motive (MOTV) that IPO'd in 2004. Prior to that at 3M on the 'buy side' of technology. Over the years I've received some good advice, some bad advice and more often, no advice. Having been a founder and in the CEO's seat before I strive to give better and more frequent advice.
