Harvey E. Oyer III is a fifth generation Floridian and is descended from one of the earliest pioneer families in South Florida. He is the great-great grandson of Captain Hannibal Dillingham Pierce and his wife Margretta Moore Pierce, who in 1872 became one of the first non-Native American families to settle in Southeast Florida. Oyer is the great-grand nephew of Charlie Pierce, the subject of this book series. Oyer is a Cambridge University educated archaeologist, and an avid historian. He served for many years as the Chairman of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and has written or contributed to numerous books and articles about Florida history. Many of the stories contained in this book series have been passed down through five generations of his family. Oyer has won numerous awards for his Adventures of Charlie Pierce children’s book series. As an Attorney, Oyer represents clients in real estate transactions, finance, land use, zoning, agricultural law, cultural property law and government relations/lobbying. His client base includes commercial and residential developers, lending institutions, large rural land owners, and governmental agencies. Mr. Oyer provides legal counsel in the acquisition, entitlement, financing and development of all types of commercial and residential properties; in the acquisition, sale and leasing of agricultural lands; in the creation of mitigation and conservation banks; and in the acquisition and disposition of large tracts of rural land. Mr. Oyer also represents his clients’ interests as a registered lobbyist and in a variety of governmental affairs matters.
