From my beginnings as a marketing specialist who designed PowerPoint templates to running an employee recognition platform across a 72,000-person enterprise, my twenty-year plus career path has allowed me to understand what employees at every level experience in their workplace. It is that knowledge, that familiarity, that permits me to connect and communicate from front-line service representatives to senior leadership. My skill as a communicator, which includes both a strong visual sense of design and excellent writing skills, gives me the ability to convey concepts and ideas easily in a variety of communication vehicles. Quick, insightful problem solving is essential when dealing with employee issues, as is always remaining adaptable in our world of innovative technologies and changing demographics. Over the years I have never asked an employee to complete a task that I wasn’t willing to do myself. I am a hands-on, in-the-trenches manager knowing that leading by example is always more important than simply assigning tasks. Whether dealing with hourly employees, executive management, vendors or customers, mutual respect is an essential component of success. Most importantly, my experience has taught me that a productive workforce needs more than a comfortable desk and a monthly newsletter. To retain the best talent, companies must foster an environment that encourages open dialogue, champions professional development, supports community involvement, and recognizes employees for their daily service and dedication.
