Steve is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE:SFE), after serving as the Company's Chief Financial Officer from 2008 to 2012. Founded in 1953 and based in Wayne, PA, Safeguard provides growth capital to technology companies principally focused in the areas of financial services, healthcare and digital media. Prior to joining Safeguard, Steve held a number of financial, operating and board roles in both venture-backed and publicly traded companies. In addition to his responsibilities at Safeguard, Steve serves as a director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Virtus Investment Partners (NASDAQ:VRTS). Other external board affiliations include Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the University City Science Center and La Salle University. Steve also serves on the board of Apprenda, Inc. and Pnueron, Inc. - current Safeguard partner companies. Steve is a graduate of La Salle University earning a B.S. degree in Accounting. He is a former Certified Public Accountant. He also completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
