Royal Holloway was ranked 173rd in the 2016/17 Times Higher Education World University Rankings published in September 2016. Ranked 27th overall in the UK, the Guide has described Royal Holloway as "truly world class" . Royal Holloway is ranked in 10th place in the world in the category of 'International Outlook' , recognising our broader outlook as a global university. The rankings use three separate indicators to judge 'international outlook' - proportion of international staff and students and research in terms of papers that are co-authored with at least one international partner. I am an educator and researcher in security and networks, with interests in the Internet, distributed systems, computer systems and communications systems. I am at Royal Holloway, University of London in the Information Security Group. previously I worked at the University of West London (UWL) as Professor of Computing. From March 2003 to February 2010 I lived in New Zealand and worked at Victoria University of Wellington as a Senior Lecturer. I have been involved in various R&D projects and provided consultancy for Telecom New Zealand, Alcatel and Medialab, NGI NZ etc. My research includes security, Next Generation Internet/Networks and protocols, Internet security, distributed systems, Grid/cloud/utility computing and services, pervasive/ubiquitous computing, including Cognitive Radio etc. Specialties: Security, Networks and Internet protocols, Distributed Systems
