I am a highly experienced business executive and am widely regarded as a world-class engineering authority. My passion for leading-edge, fast-growth companies, deep knowledge of engineering and extensive leadership experience have enabled me to build a broad portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles. Previously, I was the Chief Operating Officer of the Engineering function in Rolls-Royce, having served as Director of Engineering & Technology in both the Civil and Defence Aerospace businesses. I consistently deliver a significant contribution to the technical, operational and commercial success of my client companies, and I played a pivotal role in maintaining Rolls-Royce’s leading position in global engineering and technology. I now live in the Derbyshire Dales in the UK, where I enjoy the outdoors, arts and music. I am married with two grown-up children and two step-daughters. I've chaired many Boards and served as a Member on many more. Collaborative projects I've delivered include JV aero-engine projects, centres of excellence, and out-sourcing activity through partnerships with global suppliers. - Research, development and technology: I know how the RD&T world ticks. I'm experienced in power-system research (both basic and applied) and have an excellent track record of incorporating advanced technology into marketable products.
