Tenured healthcare professional with extensive experience as a hospital based facilities and strategic planner and healthcare management consultant. Expertise in data development and analysis to help inform decisions, development of business plans, and creating, evaluating and implementing strategic plans. Worked with architectural firms on several new construction and renovation projects. Considered to be an integral member of the senior leadership team. Successfully worked with medical staff leadership and members in project planning and clinical consolidation efforts. For ten years, served as a planner, researcher and staff educator for a SF area based architecture firm. Actively participated in marketing and business development efforts, often using past hospital experience to review/critique proposals and interview materials, including presentation content. Used past knowledge of healthcare organizations to bridge the gap between “health-speak and archi-speak”, something very useful during the pre-planning phase of work and in user group meetings; educated healthcare staff to the nuances of healthcare planning; educated architectural staff to hospital operations, patient and staff flow, designing for efficient operations, Evidence Based Design, Patient Focused Care, and so on. Knowledgeable regarding hospital operations and departmental functions; able to share that knowledge to help create new or renovated departments that are operationally efficient. The specific skills I bring to a project team include: in-depth knowledge of hospital operations; hands-on experience working in community and district hospitals offering varying levels of care and in/outpatient services; knowledge of the healthcare field in general and the potential impacts of current and pending changes in the delivery system; and knowledge of changes in technology and their potential impact on departmental design.
