Paul Carroll has recently accepted the role of Australian Exploration Manager with Murphy Oil having joined the company in KL in March 2014 as SE Asia New Ventures Advisor after 23 enjoyable years with BHPBilliton Petroleum.Paul strives to be a gestalt geoscientist - integrating the Finding, Screening & Evaluation of O&G Exploration Opportunities into Regional & Basinal Geoscience settings. He has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to Lead Teams in assessing a wide variety of Petroleum Systems in many different countries and many different basinal settings around the world - and is continually amazed at the rich variety of petroleum accumulations.Paul Carroll was awarded his BSc (Hons) from the University of New England in 1983. His oilfield experience began soon after, with training positions in Petty Ray & Core Lab. Six years with SAGASCO Resources followed, working the Cooper-Eromanga and Otway basins. While working with SAGASCO, Paul completed a part-time MSc from the National Centre of Petroleum Geology & Geophysics, University of Adelaide, graduating in 1991. Since then, he has worked with BHPB Petroleum as a hands-on Team Leader working a wide variety of Exploration & New Ventures projects in Australia, GoM & the Indo-Asia-Pacific that included a 12mo period as Country Manager of Malaysia.Specialties: Finding, Screening & Evaluating Exploration Opportunities
