With 35 plus years in the finance and energy sectors, I am currently the President and CEO of Ontario Power Generation, one of North America’s largest, most diverse electricity generators and clean tech innovators. I have the honour of leading a dynamic team, and a publicly owned company that invests millions in local economies and employs thousands of people, largely across Ontario. Guided by our vision to 'electrify life' in one generation, OPG is leading the development of new technologies and initiatives to power the growing demands of a clean economy, including transportation electrification, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), energy storage, hydrogen production, and hydroelectric developments. In addition to undertaking multi-billion-dollar overhauls of our hydroelectric and Darlington Nuclear generating stations, OPG is also exploring the feasibility of refurbishing Pickering Nuclear’s Units 5-8. My main priority is to keep the company’s momentum of progress and innovation moving apace by advancing the commitments outlined in our Climate Change Plan, our Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) strategy, which are linked below. This includes a clear focus on delivering Canada’s first SMR, ensuring the Darlington Refurbishment remains on time and budget, expanding our electrification initiatives, and growing our hydroelectric portfolio. It also includes continually improving our operational, financial, and safety performance, and pursuing new business opportunities that will help OPG better serve Ontarians with low-cost power. All of this is being done with a sustained push toward building a diverse and inclusive workplace. Growing up with five siblings on a farm east of Peterborough taught me the value of teamwork and the importance of community. I rely on the skilled and talented people of OPG and on our many strong relationships with partners and stakeholders who share our dedication to Ontario’s economic and environmental wellbeing.
