Dr. Sandeep Sibal is the CEO of Fourth Frontier, a firm that is building wireless products for assessing health and enhancing well-being using novel biosensors and advanced algorithms. From 2008 to 2015, he was the Country Manager & VP - Business Development for India and South Asia at Qualcomm, where he helped ramp quarterly sales of smartphones in the region using its 3G/4G technologies from zero to 25+ million. From 2003 to 2008, he was Technology Advisor at Reliance Communications, where he helped the mobile operator grow from launch to 35+ million subscribers and offer high-speed mobile data to Indians for the first time. In 2001 he co-founded Kirusa and helped take it from concept to revenues as its CTO. Kirusa is a company focused on enhancing the user experience of mobile services and now serves 80+ million users across 25+ countries. Dr. Sibal began his career in research and development at AT&T Bell Labs in 1995, after internships in biovisualisation at the Wadsworth Center in 1994, network algorithms at AT&T Bell Labs in 1993 and in neuroscience at the Baylor College of Medicine in 1989. He has served on the Governing Council of TSDSI, on Intel's Carrier Board of Advisors for Asia and on the Advisory Committee of the W3C. He is a co-inventor in 25 US patents, co-author in 10 journal publications and has spoken at 50+ industry events. He received a B.Tech degree from IIT Madras, an M.S. degree from Rice University, a Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and attended an exec-ed course at MIT's Sloan School of Management. Dr. Sibal also has an interest in social/political action and human/animal rights. He participated in the India Against Corruption movement and is a patron of Amnesty International, PETA and Humane Society International. He also serves on the board of GiveIndia.
