Nicole Whitehead is the business operations director for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the state’s economic development agency that provides assistance to companies wanting to relocate and/or expand into the state. Ms. Whitehead has over 15 years’ experience in economic development and is a certified economic development finance professional. She has held various roles within the MEDC. Ms. Whitehead consults regularly with local economic development agencies, executives from national companies and consultant firms to promote Michigan. She is currently the business operations director and heading up the Michigan Build Ready Sites program which includes training on the vetted sites criteria, responding to RFPs, importance of industrial sites, community awareness, site visits, and data analytics. Ms. Whitehead has implemented several programs on the state level including the Economic Gardening program, Salesforce-to-Salesforce statewide initiative, and the site consultant outreach initiative.
