Maureen "Mo" De Nieva is a fervent proponent of civic engagement among underrepresented groups and communities. As a resident of San Rafael, and one of few Asian American women in civic leadership roles, Maureen has a personal goal of diversifying the leadership landscape of Marin. She has 11 years of experience working with nonprofits & government agencies in advocacy, public speaking, social media strategy, youth development, community organizing, and public health policy. Mo is North Coast Regional Director for the California Young Democrats and AD-10 delegate to the California Democratic Party. She is President and Charter Member of the Rotary Club of San Rafael Evening. Mo has been a social media activist long before #hashtagactivism was even a thing. At Marin County Health and Human Services, she blends fun and humor while spotlighting the County’s public health priorities with an equity lens. Prior to her work as a Senior Program Coordinator for community health prevention policies and issues, Mo spent the past decade working in the non-profit sector shaping best practices for youth leadership development, organizing, and using media to amplify positive social change. She studied Political Science and Business Administration at Dominican University of California.
