My name is Mercedes Henley and I am a student at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. My field of study is East Asian Studies with an emphasis on Japan. Specifically Japanese history and anthropology. I have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan twice to study abroad. While abroad I was able to study the language and build my communication skills. My goals for my education are to continue to learn and to teach. Expanding my understanding beyond the Asian sphere, my ultimate goal is to teach the history of the world and inspire the same excitement I have for learning.
