As a global community, we have overarching goals to combat climate change and improve living standards. For these goals to be achieved, an improvement of people’s lives at the local level is fundamental. As a PhD Student in the Department of Geography and Environment at the London School of Economics, my research focuses on these local impacts, examining how environmental shocks and environmental policies influence people’s lives using household surveys and spatial data in Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. But we can't change the world if we don't prioritize ourselves first. I ignored my internal reality for decades and it resulted in physical and mental health challenges which led me to take a 2-year pause from my PhD. I am passionate about sharing my struggles and experience to support the mental health and holistic well-being of PhD students everywhere.
