Ruban Shanmugarajah, General Manager of Babyshop in the UAE, has been instrumental in expanding the brand's footprint across the country, whilst leading the business through dynamic shifts in the nation's retail environment. With more than 13 years of experience in the retail space, Ruban brings with him a wealth of consumer insights and a thorough understanding of global retail trends. His vast knowledge in the areas of store management, field management and value retailing acquired through hands on experience over these years is reflective in his "Retail is Detail" style of modus operandi at Babyshop. Ruban started his journey in the region and Babyshop in 2007 when he relocated to Dubai to head the brand's retail operations. In the last decade, he is credited with setting up robust operational systems and processes that helped the brand register unparalleled growth. Due to his achievements in the role, Ruban grew to become one of the youngest general manager’s at the Landmark Group. Prior to joining Babyshop, he served as the Regional Operational Manager at TJ Hughes, a Liverpool based value department store chain. He has also worked with the UK high street retailer WH Smith, holding various operational roles both at the brand’s head office and stores. Ruban holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with management from King’s College London Key Highlights @ WH Smith he learnt the basics of retailing, working his way up from the floor.
