The Department of Justice and Equality 's mission is to help make Ireland a safer and fairer place in which to live and work, visit and do business. The remit of the Justice family of agencies and services stretches across a range of human concerns and touches on aspects of national life as diverse as the protection of life and property; the prevention and detection of crime; the provision of services for the buying and selling of property; the management of inward migration to the State and providing a Courts Service and other forms of investigative tribunals. On the international front, the Minister and the Department serve the interests of Ireland in relation to Justice and Home Affairs’ matters by participating fully in the European Union, the Council of Europe and the United Nations among other international fora.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Department of Justice and Equality is structured around clusters of Divisions, each headed up by a member of the Management Advisory Committee (MAC), responsible for administration and policy in relation to:\r\n\r\n\r\nAn Garda Síochána \r\nImmigration Related Services \r\nCivil Law Reform \r\nCourts Policy \r\nCrime, Security and Northern Ireland, and Criminal Law Reform \r\nEquality \r\nEU/International Matters \r\nHuman Resources, Corporate Services, Organisation Development, Finance, Internal Audit and IT \r\nMigrant Integration \r\nMutual Assistance and Extradition \r\nPrisons and Probation Policy \r\nReception and Integration Agency (RIA) \r\n\r\nThere are currently approximately 23,500 staff within the overall remit of the Department (including An Garda Síochána and the Irish Prison Service)

My twenty-three year career spans both the private sector and public sector. Over eleven of these are at a senior level with a track record of significant senior management experience including the ability to make a significant strategic contribution in a complex and challenging environment. I believe my wide ranging experience and achievements demonstrate my ability to understand complexity, provide me with a wide range of perspectives and a proven ability to broker, drive and deliver change.My current role is Head of Corporate Affairs for the Department. I am responsible for overseeing governance arrangements and the strategic planning process, ICT, Data & Information Governance, Business Continuity, putting audit/committee/internal audit arrangements in place, and management of the communication functions to ensure that an effective communications service is provided. My current role, actively working with other senior executives, is about changing the Department’s operating model. This is so that our organisational structure, accountabilities and responsibilities, governance, culture and employee values and behaviours, along with the right people, processes and technology, all work together to support our strategic priorities. I have also recently had a lead role in the development of a Corporate Governance Standard for the Civil Service and I am currently drafting a project management handbook too.I am a graduate of DIT, TCD, UCC, IPA/UCD & IMI/UCC. I am one of 6 candidates nationally who hold a IPMA Level® A Certified Projects Director. I am also a certified Prosci® Change Management Practitioner and have recently completed a Masters of Business (Business Finance/Strategy & Innovation/Leadership).My specialities include: - Governance - Strategy Planning/Execution - Portfolio/Programme/Project Management - Change Management - Commercial & Financial Acumen, Operations and Contract Management - Risk & Audit Management
