A data scientist who can generate predictions and insights that ultimately increase revenue or reduce costs and losses is valuable indeed. That’s what I do. My models support the sales team and/or enable our customers to achieve their goals faster, which leads to future sales. One model predicts which customers will either not renew their contract or renew for a smaller dollar amount. This model is accurate and important enough to be featured on multiple high-profile dashboards. Accounts at risk are flagged with sales alerts, allowing the sales rep to take action to salvage the account. Another model provides personalized recommendations for training courses for each account, based on their current level of effectiveness. These recommendations are only available to customers who have purchased a premium level of service. A third model performs the same function for professional services we offer. Based on the customer’s current state of development and usage, which service will allow them to get to their goals the fastest. I am currently using process mining techniques to analyze activities SDRs take for new leads and determine how they can convert more of them to qualified status.
