For more than 30 years Dr. White has managed research across a wide range of economic and national security issues, earning a reputation for simplifying the complex to deliver practical results. Dr. White is currently an Assistant Director in the Intelligence Analyses Division at the Institute for Defense Analyses overseeing the development of analytical products. His recent areas of concentration include evaluation and mitigation of threats to the U.S. financial services sector and intelligence research support to combatant commands. Other major areas of investigation have included the assessment of economic processes underlying the generation of force by state and non-state actors, and the development of socio-economic interactive software. From 1989 to 2007, Dr. White was a Project Director in the Strategy, Forces, and Resources Division at the Institute for Defense Analyses working on a wide range of studies and evaluations spanning war planning, homeland defense, intelligence, acquisition processes, software development, and economics. From 1979 to 1989, he was an Economist at the United States Maritime Administration involved in the evaluation of ship financing, during which time he took a two-year sabbatical to serve as the Economist for the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia. Dr. White received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the American University in 1985 and 1982, respectively, and his B.A. in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University in 1979.
