Meg Barber is a national security professional with ten years of experience in the field. The daughter of an Episcopal priest and special education teacher, she learned early the value of giving back to the community, which has driven her interest in human security and its impact on stability. She has dedicated her academic and professional work to issues involving stability and peace operations, insurgency/counterinsurgency, conflict early warning, and crisis planning and preparedness. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biodefense and is writing her dissertation on insurgent strategies of social service provision. In addition to her professional activities, Meg is an avid equestrian, having trained under various US Equestrian Team members. In the last fourteen years, she has dedicated much of her equestrian life to rehabilitating horses with sports injuries or a history of abuse. She is a 2016 US Dressage Federation Bronze Medalist.
