Ms. Sommerfeldt has 15 years of experience in leading public health and human services research and program evaluation for local, state, and federal clients. Ms. Sommerfeldt a seasoned task manager technical expertise includes evaluation and design, instrument design and testing, data collection, management, statistical analysis, and data quality assurance. Recently, Ms. Sommerfeldt has worked on research utilizing disease mapping techniques to understand the intersection between youth suicide and opioid-related mortalities. This research utilizes the CDC’s multiple cause of death (detailed mortality) data. In addition, much of Ms. Sommerfeldt’s work involves vulnerable populations and sensitive topics such as substance abuse, mental health, veterans, Native Americans and Alaska Natives, disconnected or disadvantaged youth, transition-aged youth, and individuals with a criminal justice history.
