Hi! I'm Mikki. I'm a marketing and communications specialist who has big ideas, loves to problem-solve, and absolutely adores planning, organizing, and strategizing. These qualities, coupled with my academic background, real-world experience, and leadership training, make me a great addition to any team. I have extensive experience in project management. In addition to managing marketing projects in my current position with Hy-Vee, I have overhauled workflows in other areas of the store to improve efficiencies; I have developed conferences and events, including TEDxTopeka, from the ground up; and have served as a political campaign manager for multiple winning candidates. As a one-woman marketing department, I have a well-rounded working knowledge of almost all types of marketing and advertising. I know which areas I am strongest in (copywriting, social media management, print design, developing strategy and calendars) and which areas would benefit from a more experienced hand than my own, and I will not hesitate to request that help when I need it. I am an effective and adept communicator. I believe in keeping things precise without sacrificing personality or warmth in both writing and speaking. Now I want to share a little about *me* as a whole human being, and not *just* as a marketing ninja. Why? Because while you may choose me as your next consultant, business partner, or employee based on my professional skills and accomplishments, you're going to get MIKKI, not just the marketing ninja, so you might as well know what to expect! I am passionate about helping others and giving back to my community. I frequently serve as a pro-bono campaign manager or advisor for local political candidates. I am currently the Chair of the Family Service and Guidance Center Foundation Board of Trustees and mentor three amazing young women through Washburn University's mentoring programs. I have a passion for working with young women, and have often been a guest speaker for local Girl Scout troops, Women Empowerment, Inc., local sorority chapters, and various departments at Washburn University. I love bold patterns, hot drinks, cool fall days, and Harry Potter. I am obsessed with storytelling, so writing, reading and listening to podcasts or audiobooks are frequently a part of my day. I love to create, and my current creative pursuits include hand embroidery, gourmet cooking, gardening, and paper crafting.
