Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is a multi-institutional health care system that cares for patients in 14 communities in Illinois and Wisconsin.

I have spent my entire life in positions that serve the public. Presently I am a telemetry staff nurse working on a medical cardiology floor with cardiac and pulmonary patients primarily. I enjoy working nights providing bedside care and the challenge to get to know my patients before they fade off to sleep. Prior to nursing school I worked for the small community of Florissant in north St. Louis County in roles with the Parks and Recreation, and Public Works departments. Twenty plus years I spent in one role or another providing for the residents. There I learned to work as a team member and to communicate with perfect strangers to provide for their needs. I provide a different service as a nurse, but still play a part of a larger team providing services for the patients. As a nurse though it is a much more intimate environment, and the patients are often vulnerable. It is crucial that I can put their minds at ease before they can get some much needed sleep.
