Have you ever had to take those personality tests? I have spent a lot of time working on strategies to temper my “extreme” personality traits, because that is what we are told to do. The question I still have is: Isn’t it those personality traits outside of the bell-curve that make someone unique, someone who is noticed in the crowd is that not what we want in our leaders and on our teams? Let me share some of my “strong traits” so you can better understand who I am. Forthright - In today’s business environment, we need to have people that are willing to be open, expressive and creative. I believe you build a strong team by promoting an environment of trust and respect. Free Thinking - With this trait comes a highly analytical person. I personally would rather embrace the possibilities then focus on the barriers. When building my teams, I also make sure that there are a few of these people so ideas continue, and complacency is deterred. Warmth - I love people. I enjoy the interaction, getting to know them and building relationships. I believe this makes me a great leader. The people who work for and with me feel comfortable sharing their issues and concerns, as well as their ideas and dreams. The more secure people feel in their work environment, the greater the innovation and achievement of the organization. My work experience and education provides me a unique blend of IT and Finance knowledge which opens many opportunities, but it’s my passion for people, their development and life-long learning that opens a world of possibilities.
