Established in 1967 with the merger of Champlain Valley and Physicians hospitals, CVPH joined Fletcher Allen Partners in 2012, which in 2014, became The University of Vermont Health Network. Services include an award winning cardiac services program, accredited cancer center, freestanding ambulatory surgery center, comprehensive rehabilitation services and a 24 hour physician-staffed Emergency Care Center. Governed by a 15-member Board of Directors, CVPH is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by New York State and Medicare/Medicaid approved.

Julie Brunell RN, PhD, has experience grounded in nursing, leadership and education. She is passionate about lifelong learning and the continuous professional growth of staff. She has artfully crafted her own career combining her clinical expertise as a registered nurse with her love of learning. She believes in leading by example and has “modeled the way” in her own professional development through her continuous pursuit of formal credentials, knowledge, skills, challenging assignments and role changes. Julie can speak from experience having served in many roles from bedside RN to Associate VP for Patient Services. Retired from her full time role as Associate VP, Chief Learning Officer at University of Vt Health Network - CVPH Medical Center she remains connected and periodically available to assist leadership as needed. Her work has included strategic leadership and coordination of learning and organizational development, coaching and professional development across nursing and a variety of healthcare teams . Always a dedicated member of the leadership team at this 341 bed acute care hospital of 2700 employees that is part of the University of Vermont Health Network. A lifelong learner who strives each day to work collaboratively with all organizations, departments and disciplines. Her focus to create a culture of learning excellence to improve the overall clinical and leadership performance and attain strategic goals through people. Her “raison d’être” is based in bringing value and dedication to whatever she pursues. Julie seeks to combine her experience in healthcare, her energy, and her love of learning with her pragmatism and continuously finds inspiration in the natural beauty and capacity of nature and the people around her.
