I have been in technology since I graduated from a Computer Science degree some 20+ years ago. My career path has taken me on a journey from graduate engineer to senior/principal engineer, technical architect, enterprise technical architect, CTO and founder. My experiences have predominantly come from within the financial services, insurance, and telecommunications sectors, working mainly on highly innovative and disruptive technologies and solutions. These experiences have included building and scaling numerous technologies focussed teams and departments, including Agile Engineering, Cyber Security, IT Service Delivery and IT Operational Support. Since 2008 I have been focussed on FinTech, mainly on bleeding edge technology innovations across mobile, payments and eCommerce. In 2015 I co-founded ClearBank, the UKs first new clearing bank in over 250 years and the first Clearing bank ever to be designed and built Cloud Native. In my role as founder CTO, I designed and built the banks entire technology capabilities, including the Banking-as-a-Service proposition and cloud native payment system architecture for FPS, Bacs, CHAPS and C&CCC. I also built and scaled the banks engineering, cyber security and IT operations. In 2017, I became the only CTO within the UK to be classified as SMF18 as part of the Senior Managers Regime. In 2019 I became a co-founder of RTGS.global, the world’s first liquidity network primarily for cross-border trade and transactions.
