On Sept 27, 2018, I retired from Federal service after 40+ years serving the country in both military and civil service. I started working for the Census Bureau in 1991 and took over leading the IT security office in 1998. I have been Chief, Office of Information Security (previously IT Security Office) through the 2000 and 2010 Decennial Census. I have built a staff of 28 employees and 18 contractors who have implemented a solid cyber security program supporting the Census Bureau. I feel strongly I left the program much stronger than when I took it over and also am positive that I have left it in good hands. The staff will keep it moving forward and making it better every day.
